irst we learn about the economic variables and or concepts introduced when the analysis moves from a 'closed economy' to an 'open economy', such as exchange rates, balance of payments and interest rate parity. Then we apply the knowledge to real world issues related to international interdependence and its effect on economies. Particular attention is paid to the European economies and what the rest of the world can learn from the European experience."
nternational Economics can be broadly divided into international trade and international finance. Study and research in this seminar fall in the latter category, emphasizing its macroeconomic aspects. This is why we say they centre on Open Economy Macroeconomics; macroeconomics that explicitly takes into account the interdependence of different national economies."
This research seminar is conducted entirely in English.
